On 24 June 2016 the results of the referendum were announced, and the British people have chosen to leave the European Union. Post ‘Brexit (British Exit), life in the holiday business will continue pretty much as usual. Of course in the long term questions about how we travel to/between our European neighbours, our Air Passenger Rights and the use of European Health Insurance Cards will need to be answered but, for this holiday season it is unlikely that any reforms will be introduced.

Our Greek and other European partners rely hugely on the UK visitor market for their livelihoods. They have asked us to reassure travellers that they are open for guests and are ready to welcome visitors as friends and with open arms. Choose a European summer holiday in 2016 – the sun is shining brightly.

If you have any questions about travelling to Europe with Sunvil, please call our travel experts on 020 8568 4499 (Greece and Cyprus) and 020 8758 4722 (Portugal, the Azores, Italy, Sicily and Scandinavia). You can also refer to ABTA’s frequently asked questions here.

For many, the key question is whether your holiday will be more expensive.

We guarantee that bookings already made with us will not be subject to a price increase – that has always been our philosophy. We will keep a close eye on the market and will respond as appropriate depending on developments – but, at present, holidays to Greece represent incredible value and we do not see this changing this season. Who can beat 50% off normal prices for holidays to some of the Greek islands, from £319 pp for a one-week holiday inclusive of flights, transfers and accommodation?

The rate of exchange from Sterling to Euro is currently trading at 1.23. Whilst this is a lower trading rate than in recent years it is worth noting that our currency has been trading between 1.24 and 1.29 for much of 2016. It is also worth remembering that the cost of living in most southern European destinations is lower than our own and as such your money will still go far.
